An Overview:
How to Talk so Teens Will Listen and Listen so Teens Will Talk offers the tools you need to help you create a relationship with your kids.

Faber and Mazlich have done it again! Just like their classics How to Talk so Children will Listen and How to Listen so Children will Talk and Siblings Without Rivalry, How to Talk so Teens Will Listen and Listen so Teens Will Talk offers an arsenal of tools to help you create a relationship with your kids that is conducive to open communication and mutual respect. Their upbeat, chatty writing style is pleasant to listen to and the short anecdotes and tips make it easy to listen to in short bursts when you have some free time or need just a little help to get through the day.

If you’ve never read their other books, don't let that intimidate you. They don’t assume you are familiar with their techniques, but go over the basics with lots of explanations and examples. They also keep enough of the material fresh and pertinent to older kids so that their loyal readers won’t regret picking it up, either.

Sometimes listening to books is fun. Other times, it’s just important to hear the material. How to Talk so Teens Will Listen and Listen so Teens Will Talk is one of those books that every parent of an older child should read.  I’ve been reading Faber and Mazlich’s books since I first became a parent, but even the most experienced parents need a little help sometimes. Even now that I've read it, I find that putting the audio book on in the background helps remind me of the type of parent that I want to be and the lessons I wish to be teaching my ‘teen. Five stars for the book (I’d give more for being an audio book if I could!)

The Narration:
Read by the authors, the reading is best described as adequate.
