June is starting off with a bang for National Audiobook Month and what a way to begin!

I love Jeffery Deaver’s books and he has a new one out this week! Laurell K. Hamilton fans will be happy to see a new book from her as well. Let’s get this party started!

The Burning Wire

Jeffery Deaver’s quadriplegic genius detective, Lincoln Rhyme is back in The Burning Wire and he’s trying to stop a killer.

This particular killer eschews knives, guns, ropes, or other “normal” killing tools. Instead, he steers huge arcs of electricity through his victims’ bodies so that they burst in flames.

Rhyme’s team is on the street as his eyes and ears while he works against the clock to find this murderer. While the plot sounds a little farfetched, I am certain that in Deaver’s capable hands, I will be on the edge of my seat for every single page of The Burning Wire (narrated by Dennis Boutsikaris).

Bullet: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter by Laurell K. Hamilton

The Burning Wire by Jeffery Deaver Audio BookLaurell K. Hamilton is offering up Bullet: Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, Book 19, narrated by Kimberly Alexis). The bestselling series features a master vampire, werewolf and necromancer (Blake).

The vampire is consolidating power to help the US… but there are some who don’t care about his motives and only want him stopped. I haven’t read any of these, but know tons of readers who do. I’m sure they will be thrilled with a new installment in the bestselling series.

The Bourne Objective by Eric Van Lustbader

The Bourne Objective by Eric Van Lustbader carries on the Bourne saga from Robert Ludlum in this new spy thriller. When Bourne is nearly killed in Indonesia, he must fake his death to find out who has targeted him. I tried reading the Bourne series at one time, but spy novels aren’t my thing… I did like the movies, though… And it isn’t often you’ll hear me say that. (narrated by Scott Sowers)

The Madonnas of Echo Park by Brando Skyhorse

The Madonnas of Echo Park by Brando Skyhorse is narrated by Robert Ramirez, Alma Cuervo, Alyssa Bresnaham, Jonathan Davis, Tony Chiroldes, Florencia Lozano, and Annie Henk. I tell you this, because I am actually a fan of Florencia Lozano. She acts on the soap opera One Life to Live that I continue to watch despite the fact that it isn’t all that great anymore.

Anyway, back to book. The Madonnas of Echo Park is the story of illegal Mexican laborers. It sounds like an interesting look into the intermingled cultures in Lost Angeles. I am thinking this might very well be worth a listen…
