I was sorely tempted to eke out another top ten list, but I’m simply not that cruel.

Instead, I decided to look through the new releases from the last couple of weeks and share some of what’s new and notable.

By the way, I didn’t get an eBook reader for Christmas, so I am infinitely jealous of those of you who are did.

Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier, narrated by Charlotte Perry. I won a copy of this on Twitter and plan to read it after I finish Michael Connelly’s 9 Dragons. Now, you know I am not big into historical fiction, but I have a few authors that I do enjoy in that genre. Chevalier is one of them. I adored Girl with a Pearl Earring!

Anyway, this novel is about the female fossil hunter in the early 1800s, Mary Anning. I am truly looking forward to reading it.

Vook Crush It

Vook Crush It

Crush It! Why NOW Is the Time to Cash In on Your Passion written and read by Gary Vaynerchuk. I recently was given a Vook copy of this book (thank you Vooks!) and plan to check it out soon. This is the perfect book for learning about how to use the power of the Internet to make money. Maybe I’ll make enough to buy a Kindle.

Noah’s Compass by Anne Tyler, read by Arthur Morey. Anne Tyler writes the most beautiful character studies. The Accidental Tourist was the first of her books that I read – and I was hooked. In Noah’s Compass, Tyler tells the story of a school teacher who is being forced to retire. After waking up in the hospital with a bandaged head and no memory of the events that led him there, the teacher embarks on a journey to recover his missing memories.

Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde, narrated by John Lee. I love Jasper Fforde!!! The Eyre Affair and all of the Tuesday Next novels are hilarious. In Shades of Grey, society is run by a Colortocracy, with a social hierarchy based upon one’s limited color perception. Fforde takes readers on a journey that is satirical and thrilling… and I can’t wait to join in.

Committed: A Skeptic Makes Peace with Marriage written and read by Elizabeth Gilbert. The author of Eat, Pray, Love, tries to navigate the complexities of marriage when she must marry her lover or allow him to be deported.

That’s it for my roundup of new audio book releases! Have a great weekend!
