In the Rocky Road to Romance we get a peek into the lives of Daisy Adams, a fun-loving and flirty wild child of a woman and Steve Crow, a radio station program director. Her traffic reporter job brings them together and after a number of hours every day in a car, they find out they have more going on than a working relationship.
The Rocky Road to Romance is one of the earlier novels by Janet Evanovich that takes you into her romance writing. In this book we meet Daisy Adams. She is a little crazy and somewhat of a wild child that is a jack-of-all-trades and starts as the ‘Dog Lady’ on a local radio station.
When a traffic reporting job opens up at the station, she applies for it to add to her lengthy resume. Program Director Steve Crow really wants to find a reason not to hire her, but he can’t and the next thing he knows they are spending drive time in a car together doing broadcasts.
While she is not usually his type, it turns out a lot of time in the confined space of a car can make her charming and Crow finds himself getting more and more hooked on her. This book takes you through their romance, as well as a lot of humor as it features Bob, a massive dog that Daisy adopted.
This is one of Evanovich’s earlier writings, focusing on romance more than anything else. If you are not the kind that likes to read steamy scenes you may want to take a pass on this one because there are a number of scenes that could steam your windows.
If you are up for a little fun and romance, you may want to consider this book as an opportunity to escape the regular world and have a little fun. It’s a quick, light and enjoyable read.
