An Overview:

Prince Caspian, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis. One of seven books in the Narnia series.

Main Body:

Some books are too good to pass on to the kids and forget about. Before seeing the new The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian movie, I was sure to reread the original book. For those of you who haven’t read it before, you are in for a real treat. C.S. Lewis’ classic book is the fourth book in the series even though it only is the second book in the Narnia timeline.

It takes place chronologically one year after the original The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy are reminded that time passes differently in the land of Narnia when they find that hundreds of years have passed upon their arrival. As with the first journey to Narnia, they find themselves in personal danger and responsible for the safety of the kingdom.

C.S. Lewis’ writing can be read on different levels. As a theologian, he has created an allegory about Christianity that many people find appealing. However, for those of his readers who are not Christian, there exists a world of fantasy with alluring attention to detail. Talking animals, witches, giants and four average children woven into the heart of the story — what could be more delightful?

The Narration:

The book is read by Lynn Redgrave. I find her British accent very pleasant to listen to and felt that it only added to the sense of being Elsewhere.
