An Overview:

Love Overboard finds former cop Stephanie Lowe looking for a new life in Maine. What she thinks will be a chance to run her own Bed and Breakfast turns into a story with a haunting, a cruise and romance between Stephanie and a sea captain named Ivan.

Main Body:

In Love Overboard, Stephanie Lowe is a former police officer that was a cop in New Jersey, but now lives in Maine. She had been working undercover as a narcotics officer in a school until someone blew her cover and almost took her life. Her new life is living in Camden, Maine in a home that she hopes to convert into a Bed and Breakfast. But the home she buys is not the great deal she had hoped.

From the time she starts to fix things up she realizes they are much worse than she first though and she also has company, the former owners long-dead aunt who keeps haunting the place. When she’s had it with the way things are going, her cousin offers her a deal. She and her new husband want to take a week off of work and enjoy the seaside. He happens to be a plumber and can fix some of her problems.

In return, Stephanie will have to take off on a schooner where her cousin worked and prepare meals for Captain Ivan and his windjammer crew. He just so happens to be the same person she bought the house from. While she thinks things may not go well, it turns out that once she and Captain Ivan spend a little time together they get a long better than either of them think. There’s even a bit of romance in the air.

If you are a Janet Evanovich fan from the Stephanie Plum Novels, you need to understand that this is not the same type of book. This is from her earlier writings where she was more of a romance novelist. The story lines are much softer, but this book is a fun, light read.

The Narration:

CJ Critt narrates this audio book and, as always, does justice to the characters that Janet Evanovich creates. This is an enjoyable and relaxing book to listen to and even get a chuckle or two.
