Some people who look at The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook: Travel may really think this book is a big joke that has a number of curious items that may relate to bizarre travel problems.
While in part the things you will hear in The Worst-Case Scenario Survival Handbook: Travel are bizarre and sometimes downright funny, they really are great facts. For example, the book opens with a discussion about how to stop a run away camel. Chances are you won’t be on a runaway camel, but if you ever are, you may be happy you listened to this book.
There are a number of other tips and pieces of advise on everything from being mugged, ending up in the middle of a riot or even find yourself in a situation where you are wondering how to jump from the roof of one building to another.
This is a type of book that really is for a particular kind of reader/listener. If you do not like trivia or learning about things that could go wrong when you travel, avoid this book. This is a book that is rather technical sounding, although the information within I find very interesting, curious and even informative.
Another thing I like about this book is that all the pieces of this book can be listened to in sections. So, if you have a lot of small moments of time to listen to your book you will be able to do a section here and there and not feel like you keep having to interrupt the flow of the book. Frankly, whether you have one minute, 5 minutes or 30 minutes at a time, you will be able to enjoy this book to that end.
The Narration:
Penn Jillette is the narrator of this book. He is the talkative part of the magician team Penn & Teller. Whether you like this or not will really depend on how much you like his voice. As I am a major Penn & Teller fan, I love having Penn read the narration, but others may think his voice is a little gravely.
