What is it that sets an audio book apart from its traditional paper counterpart? There are two main differences,

1. An audio book is a book that has been read out aloud by a person or persons, usually recorded in a specially designed recording studio.
2. A recorded book may be narrated word for word and exactly as written in the original book, this is referred to as an unabridged version of an audiobook. The second method is a shortened version, and is referred to as an abridged audio book.

Digital books are narrated by professional or amateur voice artists who are known to possess the required skills to successfully re-create the story as intended by the author. In addition to the ability to analyze and create a scene in the mind of the listener, the narrator must have good tonal qualities of the voice. Narrators are usually employed because of their superior skills and talents in the aforementioned area.

Often narrators have a career background from many different professions which include actors from stage and screen, radio and many other areas where a good voice is a prerequisite. It really is true that audio books are brought to life by the skills of the narrator, an audio book can appealing or unappealing depending how well the book is interpreted and read by the reader.
