New Audiobook Releases: Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow and More

by on May 5, 2010

I love Tuesdays. Not only is my favorite television show, LOST, on tonight, today is the day when new audiobooks are released. Tuesday’s rock. This week, there are some awesome new offerings. Let’s take a look.

Presumed Innocent by Scott Turow

Scott Turow has finally returned to the story that made him famous. In 1987, Presumed Innocent was published to rave reviews. In it, Rusty Sabich, a prosecutor, was accused of murdering a co-worker.

The novel was made into a successful movie in 1990 featuring Harrison Ford. I loved this novel. The original book and the sequel Innocent are both available this week and are narrated by Edward Hermann. In the sequel, Rusty is again the prime suspect in a murder case, this time of his wife. I LOVED Presumed Innocent and simply cannot wait to read this!

A New Chuck Palahniuk Novel

This week also welcomes a new Chuck Palahniuk novel, Tell-All, narrated by Hillary Huber. You may recall that I am a fan of Audiobook Presumed Innocent by Scott Turowmany of Palahniuk’s books and as such, I am really looking forward to this. Twisted as ever, this novel sets its sights on vintage Hollywood.

A major Hollywood diva may be in danger from a gentleman caller… Can her companion keep her safe? I don’t know the answer, but I’m betting there will be more than one body piled up by the end of the story. Oh, yes. I’ll be reading this.

Dead in the Family is the latest Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Mystery from Charlaine Harris (read by Johanna Parker). I think I might have mentioned that I read the first one or two of these books and gave up. I really enjoy the HBO series, True Blood, but something about the writing of these novels grates at me. I want to like them, but I don’t!

The Red Pyramid: The Kane Chronicles, Book 1

Young adults will be thrilled to see that Rick Riordan of Percy Jackson fame has a new series out: The Red Pyramid: The Kane Chronicles, Book 1 narrated by Kevin R. Free and Katherine Kellgren. Carter Kane has traveled with his father, a renowned Egyptologist, since his mother’s death. He is reunited with his sister, who has lived with their grandparents in London to figure out how to save their father from the inexplicably awakening ancient Egyptian Gods.

How cool does that sound? I’m going to check this one out for my teen!

Reading and writing are my passions. I read a lot of paper books as well as listen to audiobooks utilizing playaways from the local library. I listen to most of my audiobooks on my iPod. I read about one book/week and am rarely seen without one in hand. Come along and discuss this article in our friendly community forum.
