This great app includes access to a variety of children’s audio books. Titles are searchable by age, story type, and grade level, among other categories. There are several recognizable books available, including Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Encyclopedia Brown.
I know that not many kids have expensive iPods, but you can download this program to YOUR iPod and plug it into a speaker so you can share the story. For $24.99/yearly subscription, it seems like a pretty good deal. Tales2Go even offers a free 30 day trial so you can give it a whirl before committing to buy.
Vook NewsI have mentioned “Vooks” before. They are an eBook with video content inserted into various sections of the book to highlight and enhance the text.
So far, releases have been mostly self-help. I was put off by the Crush It! Vook video content because the author seemed more interested in the shock value of vulgarity.
I am, however, intrigued by the new Vook venture. Bestselling author Anne Rice has signed on to create a multimedia edition of her 1984 vampire story “The Master of Rampling Gate”. The Vook will be available for purchase on March 1, through iTunes for $6.99.
EBook Price Wars: Will It Change What You Buy?
So now that publishers are demanding that eBook prices be more flexible, up to around $15, will that change you’re buying habits? I have a feeling… I have some eBooks for the Kindle app on my iPod touch. As I browse the selections, I can tell you that I have made more than one impulsive purchase. $9.99 goes down easily if I want to read the book. But. At $15? I know that I will pause.
With the state of the global economy, most people are watching their pennies and are hesitant to spend money on whimsical purchases. Impulse buys are considered for that split second longer than they were just a few years ago. For some reason, $15 makes me pause. I think I will buy less… will you?
