This time, Life explores the current US President from childhood through his political career. A foreword by the late Senator Edward Kennedy and essays by well known writers complement the content. Anyone interested in learning more about the US President, should give this one a listen.
The Secret to Teen Power by Paul Harrington, narrated by Cassidy Lehrman, Ray Santiago, and Elijah Rock. Millions have changed their lives with The Secret. This time around, The Secret is geared towards improving success and well being in teens. Knowing the issues that face teens every day, a book that empowers them has to be a good thing. I have two teens in my house and I am thinking stocking stuffer!
The Myth of Multitasking: How ‘Doing It All’ Gets Nothing Done written and narrated by Dave Crenshaw. As I write this, I am tweeting, checking email, returning phone calls, and surfing the web. Crenshaw is right. I am doing none of these things particularly well… Darn. I wonder if he addresses the fact that, as a mom, if you don’t multitask you cannot survive. If I wasn’t so busy with all of these other things, I would probably read the book to find out.
The Loudest Duck: Moving Beyond Diversity While Embracing Differences to Achieve Success at Work written and read by Laura A. Liswood. This book compares the work environment to a Chinese parable about how the “loudest duck gets shot”, akin to the American saying “the squeaky wheel gets the grease”. The lessons discuss why diversity efforts fail and how to move beyond this and use an understanding of cultural issues to improve our work environments.
I wonder if this book deals with nontraditional work environments – now that so many e-businesses work on a global scale…
