Breathless by Dean Koontz (read by Jeffrey Cumming) Grady Adams, a 35 year-old carpenter living in Colorado, discovers some strange new animals in the forest. Suddenly, Grady finds himself under quarantine from Homeland Security and under pressure to save the animals. I like Dean Koontz’s books and am planning to read this. On December 17 at 7pm ET, Audible.com is hosting a live video chat with the author. I’m all signed up, are you?

Pirate Latitudes by Michael Crichton (read by John Bedford Lloyd) The discovery of this manuscript on Crichton’s computer after his death is certainly a nice surprise for his fans. Rather than taking on science fiction or espionage, this novel takes us back to 1665, a time of ruthless pirates. My library request has been placed. I have read most of Crichton’s work, and I am curious about this departure from his usual style.

The Monster in the Box by Ruth Rendell (read by Nicolas Coster) This is the latest installment in Rendell’s popular Inspector Wexford series. Wexford returns to the house where he investigated his first case and ties it to several apparently motiveless murders that he has encountered over the years. I haven’t read the series, but Rendell usually gets rave reviews…

Why My Third Husband Will Be a Dog written and read by Lisa Scottoline Scottoline is widely known for her mystery/thriller novels. I am a huge fan. This book is a collection of columns that she has written for the Philadelphia Inquirer. Humorous takes on life, supportive lingerie, and life lessons populate the book. Sounds interesting to me!
