Which Audio books Appeal to you this Week?
T his is a week of multiple genre releases. There’s something for everyone this week in audiobooks.
True Compass: A Memoir by Edward M. Kennedy (read by John Bedford Lloyd) is an interesting chronicle of the life of one of the most famous US Senators of our time.
He describes life with his brothers, his marriage, and even his recently diagnosed brain tumor with candor. This will be a very interesting read for anyone curious about the Kennedy family.
Thrillers:
Guilt by John Lescroat (narrated by David Colacci) is a fast-paced legal thriller in which a prominent attorney is accused of murdering his wife. The investigation and trial drag multiple characters into the melee as opposing sides clash in this intricate mystery. I’m putting myself on the list for this one at the library right now!
Don’t miss The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown (narrated by Paul Michael). With a massive first printing and presales pushing it up the bestseller list before release, The Lost Symbol will be the must-read book for fall. Robert Langdon is again thrown into a mystery that promises to be thrilling and unexpected.
Langdon must use his symbology expertise to find a kidnapped philanthropist. Reviewers will surely decry Brown’s writing style – The DaVinci Code was no literary masterpiece – but the plotline will hook them regardless of criticism of his writing style. I picked up my copy yesterday and can’t wait to start!
Fiction:
Blame by Michelle Huneven (read by Hilary Huber) follows the life of history professor Patsy MacLemoore, who wakes from a blackout to find that she was responsible for the deaths of two women. This is the impetus for Patsy to turn her life around, which she does with great success, until surprising evidence is found decades later. I am intrigued by the premise and will be picking this one up ASAP.
Johanna Lindsey’s Heart of a Warrior (read by Laural Merlington) finds Brittany Callaghan, a lovely, intelligent woman who finds a gorgeous Viking warrior on her doorstep. Sexy and romantic, this romance will surely please romance readers. I’m not a romance reader, but one of my friends assures me that Lindsay is one of the best writers in the genre.
