Something Old, Something New, and Something You Should Be Reading
As expected, The Lost Symbol continues to be the bestselling audiobook. For those who have already read it or are just not interested, here are some other suggestions from the bestseller’s list.
If you haven’t picked up your copy of FREE: The Future of a Radical Price written and read by Chris Anderson, what are you waiting for? It’s free on Audible right now!
This interesting take on current business strategy suggests that companies can profit more by giving things away. I downloaded it back in July, when it was first released and it really is fascinating. Download it today… it’s free. What do you have to lose?
The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi (narrated by Jonathan Davis as well as by the author) is a futuristic tale in which the Windup Girl is a new engineered being, not human, who is programmed to serve. In this strange and dangerous future, calories are currency and bio-terrorism is used by corporations for profit. This one isn’t quite my style. If you are into sci-fi, this may appeal to you.
Where Men Win Glory: The Odyssey of Pat Tillman is an amazing story by bestselling author Jon Krakauer (read by Scott Brick). Pat Tillman left his $3.6 million NFL contract and joined the US military in 2002. Two years later he was killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan. Officials kept the details of his death quiet to avoid negative national attention.
This account of Tillman’s life shines light on the circumstances surrounding his death as well as his complicated life. I generally don’t read these types of books, but this one is on my list. It has all of the elements of a great story.
Richard North Patterson joins the bestseller list with The Spire (narrated by Holter Graham). Patterson is a master of the legal thriller. If you are a fan of Turow or Grisham, you will enjoy Patterson’s books. I actually had this one checked out of the library, but I’m still deeply engrossed in the ARC of Her Fearful Symmetry and didn’t get to it.
I am glad to see that Say you’re One of Them hasn’t reached the list on audio. I hope that means that you are waiting for the full edition to be released! Check out more audible.com best sellers.
