The Search for Less Expensive Audiobook Downloads
I have discussed the benefits of OverDrive, available through many public libraries, as well as Project Gutenberg for free audiobook access. There are obvious limitations to these free services.
I have also written about various audiobook rental services, some of which can be expensive. I began to wonder about other avenues for purchasing titles. Are there audio deals out there? I believe there are…
Giveaways
My first stop in the search for deals was a Google search for audiobook giveaways. The result was over 7 million results. Everyone from publishers to bloggers offer giveaways with varying requirements for entry. Some ask that you sign up for a newsletter, others that you follow their blog or add them to your Twitter following. Some ask for nothing more than your email so that they may notify you if you win.

Giveaways
This month, as a test drive, I entered a few of the giveaway promotions. Last week I received notice that I had won a copy of James Patterson’s Swimsuit on audio from http://booksandneedlepoint.blogspot.com. The 6 CD unabridged set costs $28 from Barnes and Noble.
All I did was make a comment on the blog with my email address, follow the blog and post the contest via Twitter. Each of these things gave me a certain number of entries (you can pick and choose which). The entire process took less than 3 minutes. I can’t wait to receive my prize!
